Water Science and Engineering

Water Science and Engineering (WSE) (ISSN 1674-2370, CN 32-1785/TV), founded in 2008, is a scientific and technical periodical published quarterly in English. The journal is sponsored by Hohai University, which has a history of 90 years and is famous throughout China for its water resources expertise.

WSE focuses on new concepts, theories, methods, and techniques related to water issues. The published papers cover the latest research in the fields of water science, water engineering, water resources, water environment, water ecology, and water management, with emphases placed on the innovation and applicability of science and technology in large-scale hydropower project construction, large river and lake regulation, inter-basin water transfer, hydroelectric energy development, ecological restoration, the development of new materials, and sustainable utilization of water resources. 

WSE aims to promote international exchange in academic research on water science, and to contribute to the internationalization progress of Chinese water science as well as the solution of water-related issues.

The journal has an international editorial board consisting of well-known professors and experts in water science and engineering at prominent research institutes and universities around the world. The editors-in-chief of WSE are Professor Zhong-ru Wu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and prominent expert in water resources, and Vijay P. Singh, a world-renowned professor in water engineering at Texas A&M University in the U.S.A. The executive editor-in-chief is Professor De-guan Wang, a well-known expert in hydrodynamics and environmental engineering at Hohai University. The members of the editorial board, whose names are listed below, make a great effort in selecting and reviewing papers in order to ensure the high quality of the journal.

With the efforts of the editorial board, WSE has gradually built up a favorable reputation in water science and engineering. So far, about 80% of all the published papers have been the results of the National Natural Science Foundation research projects and ministerial or provincial Science Fund projects. WSE has also attracted papers from America, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Turkey, Brazil, and Greece. The published papers have been downloaded for nearly 15000 times all over the world since the WSE website became active when the journal was founded, and the rate of downloads has at times reached 117 per day.

By now, WSE has been accepted by Ei Compendex of America, CA (Chemical Abstracts) of America, IC (Index Copernicus) of Poland, China Academic Journals Integrated Online Database, and Wanfang Database of China.
